The Short Answer

Groundology wins for most buyers on range and its nine-size UK run from Slim Single to Emperor. Sleep Earthed wins if UK manufacture and the 90 Days to Better Sleep returns guarantee matter most. We scored them 4.7 and 4.6 out of 5, so this one is genuinely close. Both are UK specialists selling direct, which puts either choice ahead of anonymous marketplace listings.

In a hurry? Groundology has the wider range and size run; Sleep Earthed is the UK-made pick with a 90-day returns window.

If your shortlist has come down to Groundology vs Sleep Earthed, you have already found the two brands that finished first and second in our guide to the best grounding sheets in the UK. Both are established UK specialists, both sell direct rather than through marketplaces, and both make sheets that connect to the earth pin of a standard UK 3-pin socket. The choice comes down to breadth and sizing versus British manufacture and a long returns window.

We have reviewed each brand in depth: our full Groundology review and Sleep Earthed review go product by product. This page puts the two directly head to head.

Company Background and Track Record

Groundology is the longest-established specialist here. Groundology Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company no. 7972052), based in Tintern, Monmouthshire, and has traded since 2010. It also publicly warns that grounding products on online marketplaces are frequently counterfeit, advice we agree with.

Sleep Earthed counters with a different kind of credibility: it was founded and is run by Steve Dalloway, a qualified electrical engineer, reassuring for a product whose whole purpose is an electrical connection to earth. Track record favours Groundology, founder expertise favours Sleep Earthed; we call this dimension a draw.

Where the Sheets Are Made

This is Sleep Earthed's clearest win. Its sheets are manufactured in Leominster, Herefordshire. If supporting British manufacturing matters to you, or you want a short supply chain and a maker you can contact in the UK, Sleep Earthed is the obvious choice.

Groundology is a UK company, but the listings we checked do not state where its sheets are manufactured. That is not unusual in bedding, but it means we cannot call them UK-made. If provenance is a deciding factor, ask the company before ordering.

Sheet Formats Compared

Groundology offers the broadest set of sheet formats we have seen from any UK brand: a standard Fitted Grounding Sheet, a High Silver version with higher silver content, a Universal Grounding Sheet (a half-width sheet that tucks across any bed), a Grounding Undersheet and a SoftSilver Sheet in multiple sizes. That range lets you match the format to how you sleep: full-bed coverage that stays put, or a lower-cost half sheet you can move between beds.

Sleep Earthed keeps things simpler: its UK-made Earthing Grounding Bed Sheet plus an Organic Earthing Half Sheet. The organic half sheet stands out, since organic cotton is a real point of difference in this pairing, and a half sheet suits couples where only one person wants to sleep grounded. On sheer choice of format, though, Groundology wins comfortably.

UK Size Run

Groundology's fitted sheets come in nine UK sizes: Slim Single, Single, Long Single, King Single, Double, King, Euro King, Superking and Emperor. That is the widest UK size run we have found from any earthing brand, and it matters, because a grounding sheet needs to fit snugly to keep the conductive fabric in contact with your skin. If you sleep on a Long Single or an Emperor, Groundology may be the only specialist that fits your bed.

Sleep Earthed does not publish a size run we can verify here, so check the current listing for the sizes on offer. Standard UK sizes run from Single (90 x 190 cm) through Double (135 x 190 cm) and King (150 x 200 cm) to Super King (180 x 200 cm); our grounding sheet size guide maps every UK bed size to the right format. On sizing, Groundology wins.

Safety and Connection Kit

Both brands use the same basic connection method: a lead clips to the sheet and plugs into the earth pin of a UK 3-pin (Type G) socket, or connects to an earth rod in the garden. The earth pin is separate from live and neutral, so no mains current reaches the sheet. Many quality earthing leads add an inline resistor of around 100k ohm as a further safety measure; neither brand's exact connection spec is verified here, so check the current product page if that detail matters. Our grounding sheet safety guide explains the setup in plain English.

On supporting kit, the two differ. Groundology sells connection leads and earthing rods. Sleep Earthed sells a UK Earthing Plug Cable, a European Earthing Plug for travel and, usefully, a UK Socket Tester: a cheap plug-in device that confirms a socket's earth is wired correctly. We recommend that check to everyone (our guide to testing an earthing sheet walks through it), so Sleep Earthed takes a narrow win here.

One shared caution: manufacturer guidance is to unplug earthing products during a thunderstorm, and anyone with a pacemaker or other implanted device, or pregnant or under medical care, should ask their doctor before using grounding products.

Guarantees and Returns

Sleep Earthed offers a "90 Days to Better Sleep Guarantee". To be clear about what that is: a returns guarantee, not a promise that your sleep will improve. As a returns window it is generous, and with the research behind grounding still early and based on small pilot studies, a long returns period is exactly what a first-time buyer should want.

Groundology does not advertise an equivalent named guarantee that we can verify, so check the current returns policy on its site before ordering. Standard UK consumer rights apply to both either way. On guarantees, Sleep Earthed wins clearly.

Accessories and Wider Range

Beyond sheets, Groundology's catalogue is the deepest in the UK market: an Earthing Pillow Case and a SoftSilver Pillow Case, a Grounding Mat in standard and large sizes, a Grounding Mouse Mat for desk use, a Yoga and Fitness Mat, Grounding Bands and Patches, plus the rods and leads already mentioned. If you might extend grounding beyond the bed, Groundology covers it all under one roof; our grounding mats guide covers that side of the market.

Sleep Earthed's range is smaller but not without character: an Earthing Grounding Pillow Case and an Earthing Recovery Sleeping Bag, the more distinctive product of the two line-ups. For breadth, though, Groundology wins.

Groundology vs Sleep Earthed: Your Questions

Which is better for a first grounding sheet?

For a first sheet we lean Sleep Earthed, narrowly, because the 90-day returns guarantee lets you try grounding with very little risk, and the socket tester makes the initial setup easy to verify. If your bed is an unusual UK size or you want a fitted format, Groundology's nine-size run decides it instead.

Will either brand's sheet improve my sleep?

Nobody can honestly promise that, and we will not. A 2004 pilot study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (12 subjects, 8 weeks) reported that grounding during sleep reduced night-time cortisol levels and resynchronised cortisol secretion, with participants also reporting improved sleep. But the sample was tiny, several foundational grounding papers share authors connected to grounding product companies, and the Cleveland Clinic calls the research limited and preliminary. Grounding is not an NHS-recommended treatment for any condition. Treat it as a low-risk wellness experiment, read do grounding sheets work?, and speak to your GP about any health concerns.

Do both brands work with UK sockets?

Yes. Both connect to the earth pin of a standard BS 1363 (Type G) three-pin socket, where the top pin is earth, or to an earth rod outside. Sleep Earthed also sells a European Earthing Plug if you travel, and its UK Socket Tester confirms a socket's earth is wired correctly before you plug in.

Should I buy either brand on Amazon or eBay instead?

No. Groundology publicly warns that grounding products on online marketplaces are frequently counterfeit, and a counterfeit sheet may not conduct at all. Buy direct from groundology.co.uk or sleepearthed.co.uk, then check the sheet when it arrives using our testing guide.

How should I care for a sheet from either brand?

Follow the maker's care instructions, and avoid bleach and fabric softener on any conductive textile: softener coats the fibres and reduces conductivity over time. Silver thread can also tarnish through contact with sweat, sulphur compounds and some detergents; our guide to silver vs stainless steel grounding threads explains the chemistry.

Our Verdict

Groundology takes this head to head by the narrowest of margins, 4.7 to 4.6. Its nine-size UK run, five sheet formats and deep accessory catalogue make it the safer recommendation for most buyers, and trading since 2010 counts for something in a market full of newcomers. Sleep Earthed remains the pick if UK manufacture, the 90-day returns guarantee or the founder's engineering background sway you; for a cautious first-time buyer those are reasonable priorities.

Before you decide, read the full Groundology review and Sleep Earthed review, or step back to our complete guide to the best grounding sheets in the UK, which sets both brands against the rest of the market. And keep the science in perspective: the studies are small and early, so buy a grounding sheet as an experiment you can reverse, not as a treatment for anything.

Ready to choose? Both brands sell direct, which is the safest way to buy.
